Best Drive Ever!

Nov. 2, 2012

I leave for Kaw City by 7:05 a.m. most mornings, so I was getting used to starting my day when the moon was still up and having a beautiful sunrise to watch on my way to work almost every day.  Then, when I got home, the boys had the time to play outside and run around or ride bikes until I got dinner ready.

Here’s some photos I took while driving to work last week.  I can’t get over what a pretty morning it was.  These are before 7:15 a.m.

Now, about 7:25 a.m. – and I actually stopped to take a few. :)

:)  It was still a pretty drive after that, but it started out prettier than even pictures can describe.  Jermie doesn’t believe me, but none of the pics are edited – all straight off my cell phone.  :)

So, to end the rant – although I appreciate the concern for school kids who are walking and riding to school in the early mornings, I also have my gripes about daylight savings time.  I would much prefer to leave when it’s dark and come home to plenty of light than the opposite… or so I tell myself when I come home to boys who’ve been cooped up all day… But I guess in a few weeks when everything’s frozen I’ll be glad to leave when it’s practically daylight out… even if I do miss all the pretty sunrises… I suppose it evens out.  I’m just glad I didn’t miss this one before DST ended – or started – whatever.

Twin Policemen!

TRICK OR TREAT!

Best Halloween EVER this year!  We had a nice, warm night & the boys were so happy and excited all night!  We started at the Trunk or Treat next to the fire station and it was the first time we’d done that.  It actually worked out as a fun place to start since the boys saw other kids they knew from school and got to see tons of fun costumes.

Then we went back to our neighborhood to knock on doors.  I remember taking toddlers Trick or Treating and how both boys thought when that door opened they were supposed to walk right in.  This year, they had to get pas the urge to grab the candy dishes and handfuls of candy.  We tried instead to get the boys to hold their sacks open and let people drop candy in… Gabe was coaching his little brother, it was fun to see them on the doorstep practically bouncing up and down waiting for their treats!

At the neighbor’s house (great decorating!)

This house in the neighborhood was Overly Halloween!  Strobe lights, talking, moving freaky creatures and skeletons and all kinds of craziness.  Ashton actually approached the house, then turned around and ran back to us!  We were dying laughing, and so were the people inside.  It’s only so long that these little gimmicks will be so enjoyable for the boys, I just loved to see them respond to the scary homes and costumes!

Speaking of costumes, the schools promoted a “parade” downtown the week before Halloween.  It was a bit of a crazy event – tons of kids and parents.  We realized it’s actually more of a costume contest, and although handsome our policeman and fireman (yeah, Gabe had a costume change!) well, no award winners from the Fanslers.  I doubt I ever become that ambitious!  :)

Here are some pics from the “parade” downtown.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Pre-K & First Grade

Photos from throughout this month…

Preschool is something new for Ashton this year, and new for us, too, since Gabe went to Trinity and Ashton is at Webster.  And Gabe is in a first grade class with almost none of the same kids who were in his Kindergarten class.  Both boys have faced some Huge changes this year – and now at almost half-way through the school year it’s time to take a sigh of relief and say – they’re fine.  :)

This is a napkin Ashton used to write the letters of his name.  How stinking cute!

I know the pictures above aren’t very good but the story behind them is that on the morning of Ashton’s school zoo trip, I took pictures of him from head to toe.  Neither Jermie or I was able to go with him, so I was a little nervous but you can’t deny a kindergartener a zoo trip… I was Ashton’s FIRST ride on a school bus and his FIRST school field trip.  He came home one Happy boy – and said his favorite parts were the snakes and the jungle.  :)  ALL boy.

Ashton also had to get a Hep shot this month – sad face – but once again he proves that he’s a big boy and didn’t cry or get upset… Yay!  They gave him a coupon for a free ice cream cone.  :)

Ashton’s second field trip this year was to the Quail Ridge pumpkin patch (the one we went to as a family.)  He got to pick a pumpkin, of course.  Look a how his awesome mom dressed him in an orange collared shirt for his pumpkin patch trip.  I know!  :)

Hey, check out my other stylish boys, just clowning around!

& last, the little guy still fits into laundry baskets.  :)

Obviously, these are all random wrap-ups of late, but I love sharing these little snapshots of life inside the Fansler house.  It’s been all about the boys lately, and will be too with the holidays coming up.  Sweet, sweet boys.  I love it.  :)

Pumpkin Patch fun!

October 20, 2012

A new pumpkin patch opened this year in Winfield and we decided to try it out.  We didn’t make it to El Dorado to meet everyone this year which is a little sad, but the local pumpkin patch provided tons of fun and lots of great photos of the boys & my family:)

All the wet & spiky hair came after jumping like crazy on the huge “pillowcase” – bright red cheeks even after taking a train ride to cool off!  :)
