Our Vacation Top 10

We went to Cancun a couple years ago – this vacation blew that one out of the water!  :)

10.  Going on Vacation with Jamie and Brady!  We had a GREAT time!  It was fun to have company with us, especially when they’re outgoing and started conversations with a lot of really fun people that we met down there.  Jamie is the one who started talking Danielle & Taylor up about the 27 waterfalls, and they became our good friends and did a lot with us the last few days of our vacation.  This vacation compared to Cancun:  Met LOTS more people, and everyone on the resort seemed much more friendly.  :)

9.  Our Sprawling Resort!  We were at Lifestyles Holiday Resort & the Cofresi Beach Resort was right next door – literally just down the beach.  The Cofresi Resort was newer and we found several things there that we loved, including their pools.  They had an Aquapool that was built like a cave – and had a swim-up bar; a waterfall that went into a pool that you could walk and swim under; and their buffet was all cooked right in front of us and I had the best shredded chicken tacos there ever; and they had a pool with a shady corner with lawn chairs and hammocks.  :)

Compared to these resorts, the place we stayed at in Cancun seemed more like a really nice hotel with extra pools and restaurants.  This resort was SO much better – we always felt like we had more to explore and plenty to do!   

8.  Night Time Entertainment! (& the night Jamie rocked Karaoke!)  Every night both resorts had live entertainment.  After dinner, there was usually a live singer or band out by the pool bar at our resort, where everyone gathered for the free drinks and to hang out.  One night there was Karaoke, and Jamie ROCKED singing Black Velvet!  :)  All the American’s cheered – yay for a song we recognized (not in Spanish!)  Plus, it truly was awesome.  Then, Jermie’s girlfriend (seriously – the most beautiful DR girl on the island, wish I had a picture!) would lead us to the coliseum for nightly entertainment.  We saw lots of Latin Booty Shakin’!  :)

 

7. Mamajuana!  This drink was the local drink hailed at every bar and restaurant across the resorts.  It’s Dominican roots, which they add alcohol to – usually a mixture of rum, wine and honey, or so we heard.  “Women order it – men drink it!”  :)  We got a bottle of roots and some local rum as our welcome gift from the resort and since we’ve been home, everyone has been pretty scared to try it.  :)  (It’s pretty strong!)  This is a pic of the guys at the Dominican Restaurant – shots of Mamajuana were pretty much the designated dessert!  :)  Anyways, it’s something very local and completely different than anything we’ve ever had anywhere else… and lots of fun!

 

6.  Ocean World & Casino – Bravissimo Show!  Included in our vacation was a free shuttle to Ocean World – just 5 minutes from our resort – and a free Bravissimo Show!  :)  The show was AMAZING!  Again lots of booty shakin but this time with super amazing costumes, live singing and seriously beautiful people…  :)  I have pics from online – sadly didn’t bring my camera with me – but it was absolutely a great show… entirely en espanol.  lol.  Here’s a better way to explain it:  Bravissimo is a Las Vegas style dance show with a tropical flair. Gorgeous performers take guests on an enchanted journey throughout the Caribbean by presenting their interpretive dance collection from the region. The performance is enhanced by a combination of beautiful island rhythms, state of the art sound and lighting, twenty-eight exotic island dancers and over one hundred-twenty unique costumes. The show is a one of a kind display of spectacular dancing and breathtaking costumes…not to be missed.
