Fansler Wildlife Special: King Turtle

To start the wildlife special, a couple photos of a pretty sunset in Cowley Co., Ks. 

I don’t know if anyone remembers, but a few years back we adopted a baby turtle from Winfield Lake.  He’s an Alligator Turtle, the kind with spiky shells and tails and definitely a snapper.  He was as small as the palm of your hand when we got him.

Then he spent a few years growing bigger and bigger in our aquarium.  This summer, we decided to release him to our neighbor’s pond – a small store-bought pond with a waterfall leading into it, you know the kind.  Here’s how big he had grown:
